Clothing – made for those who wear them. Ever since MELROSE CO., LTD. was founded in 1973, this seemingly obvious principle has guided the way we make our clothes. Rather than creating clothes that just make bold statements, we prefer to allow the wearer the freedom to coordinate them as a form of expression. Over the forty years since our founding, MELROSE has introduced several brands; but this basic principle and attitude has remained unchanged. Although designs may go through subtle changes to reflect the times, the taste that lies at the core of the brand has remained the same. MELROSE takes in the latest fashion trends but is never carried away; that is what makes MELROSE an enduring ‘traditional’ brand.
We believe creativity and the ability to communicate has been most important. No matter how the times change, we hope to continue to be a company with refined creativity that proposes fresh and exciting ideas.
Q. Do you have any memories from working with LUMINE that you would like to share?
On the day of the LUMINE Yurakucho opening, there was a long line of customers that went all around the building throughout the day. The sight of that long line reminded us of the high expectations customers have towards LUMINE. As a tenant, we felt it was necessary to create a store that was fascinating and would exceed customer expectations.
Q. Do you have any messages to your overseas customers/companies?
Most MELROSE brands are only available in Japan, including Converse Tokyo. We hope you come visit our store in LUMINE and NEWoMan to see the “TOKYO feeling” and “TOKYO cool” that the brand represents.
