NY’s budding artist Ricardo Gonzalez’s live painting in Japan
The window displays at Shinjuku LUMINE 2 will showcase art, as part of their
LUMINE meets ART initiative. The artistic pieces will be on display for limited
periods of time, changing a few times each year. As the first of the series focuses
on spreading global art from Shinjuku, overseas artist Ricardo Gonzalez has been
invited to Japan to perform live painting. The NY-based artist will take a gradual
approach in decorating the window display. Ricardo Gonzalez’s work will also
be showcased in elevators of Shinjuku LUMINE 1, with designs based on the
company’s theme “New You” and expressing different life experiences.
LUMINE Meets ART
LUMINE meets ART began in 2010 as the art initiative to promote the
company’s “Itsumono LUMINE +α” (everyday LUMINE plus more) concept.
It aims to bring art that resonates with customers closer to their everyday lives
through showcasing pieces inside LUMINE facilities, while customers enjoy
shopping and eating.
Ricardo Gonzalez is a Mexico-born graphic designer currently based in New
York. He focuses on lettering, typography, calligraphy and font design.
